Cycling Club
At the beginning of 2009 a group of enthusiastic riders, ranging in experience from long term club cyclists through leisure cyclists with 2-3 years experience to complete beginners, formed the Lloyd’s Cycling Club.
We aim to help others by raising money for charity and at the same time benefit from improved health and team work resulting from the cycling and collaborating on projects.
Membership of the club is open to anyone, but is principally based around the Lloyd’s market place.
The club has regular rides in various geographic locations around London. We also organise meeting at various sportives so that people can ride together if they wish to. There is an annual away tour - 2009 Lands End John o'Groats - 2010 Pyrenean Coast to Coast - 2011 Lloyd's to Monte Carlo." .

Flyfishing Society
The Lloyd's Flyfishing Society (LFS) was formed in 1987 and continues to grow at a steady and healthy rate.
The objective of the LFS is "To encourage and to promote an interest in flyfishing within the insurance community".
We welcome prospective members who have an existing or former working connection with Lloyd's or have an existing or former involvement with the Insurance Industry.
We have over 250 members, many of whom take an active interest in our flyfishing and social calendar.
Each year we look to provide quality flyfishing at affordable rates on lovely river beats such as the Itchen Abbas, the Kennet at Kintbury, the Avon in the Woodford Valley, and two separate fisheries on the lower Test at Broadlands and Timsbury. Please contact the Secretary for enquiries about becoming a member.
Only Members can book available fishing, which is listed on the LFS website, by prior arrangement with the Fisheries Secretary and Members are able to bring guests where rod availability allows.
The LFS also holds Society days at Lakes during the year where family members and friends are welcome. We seek to provide tuition for those who wish to learn the art of flyfishing. Each year in the Autumn we hold an Anniversary Dinner, which is well attended, where we like to provide an enjoyable and convivial evening for our members and their guests.

Language Club
Founded in 1992, the London Market Language Exchange is supported by the International Underwriting Association and Lloyd’s of London. Starting with one French class some 19 years ago, the clubs have since attracted hundreds of members from the City. There are now 60 conversation groups centred around eight different languages: French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish & Mandarin. Some of these classes are free, whilst others are competitively charged.
Although predominately attended by the London insurance community, the Language Clubs are now open to non-insurance professionals in the city. In addition to social gatherings, each of the clubs offer the opportunity to learn languages at all levels either on a one-to-one basis or in weekly classes. There are now 19 tutors in all, 10 of whom are professional linguists, the rest voluntary bi-lingual leaders working in the market.
Most of the classes consist of a maximum 6 students and take place during the lunch hour or early evening, at various London Venues in the EC3 area . To view the Schedule of Classes please click here:
If you are interested in becoming a member of the Language Clubs or would like to obtain further information please contact the Clubs Secretary.

Lloyd's Motor Club
The Lloyd’s Motor Club was formed in 1951 by a number of enthusiasts in the London insurance market, following an upsurge of interest in motoring and motor sport after the Second World War. Membership was, and remains, available to those connected with the Lloyd’s and Company markets of the London insurance industry, whether broking, underwriting or providing any ancillary services.
At its peak in the 1970s and 1980s, membership ran well into four figures; after a quiet spell in the early 1990s, numbers have once again been increasing rapidly in recent years, with an ever-expanding range of events in which members and their guests can attend and participate. We are very fortunate to count Sir Stirling Moss as our first Honorary Member; Sir Stirling has been a great supporter of LMC events over the years.
Having run its own sprint meetings at Brands Hatch and Lydden Hill in the 1950s, the club was able to expand its sporting activities when it was invited to join the Eight Clubs in 1968 and participate in their annual event at Silverstone. Although this meeting ran for the last time in 2006, today’s LMC members are still able to avail themselves of exclusive circuit-hire events such as our two long-standing track days at Goodwood and our annual Karting Day at Buckmore Park, one of the country’s leading outdoor karting venues.
What was formerly the social highlight of the club’s year - the Dinner - resumed in 1999 after an absence of many years and is now a biennial event, much to the pleasure of those long-standing members who retain fond memories of the rather politically incorrect events of the past, which would often draw the LMC to the attention of the national motoring press!
Other popular events include regular Prestige Motor Forums – free presentations by motor manufacturers held at lunchtimes in the Old Library at Lloyd’s – and also Celebrity Lunches and Suppers, stands at Classic Car shows and factory visits.
All members are welcome to play in any of the events.
