Lloyd's announces new partner charities with 8 foot signpost in the Room

Lloyd's partner charities launch Lloyd’s has launched a new campaign, Brighter Futures for Londoners, to support local projects of the Bromley by Bow Centre and the Prince’s Trust over the next three years with over £350,000 in funding.

To mark the launch, an eight-foot high signpost was in Lloyd’s underwriting room pointing to case studies in the surrounding area and highlighting the proximity of people needing help.

Sitting among historical artefacts like the Lutine Bell, a collection of Lord Nelson memorabilia and a 100 year old loss book, the signpost is an impressive feature.

To coincide with the launch, the iconic escalators have also been vamped up. Signposts on the escalators are covering their luminous workings while work is being done to make them more energy efficient. The signs, saying: ‘Moving up in the world isn’t always easy’ and ‘Brighter Futures for Londoners,’ will be a permanent fixture over the next few months.

And the lifts haven’t been neglected either. Material promoting the launch can be seen from inside and outside the building as people move up and down the building.

At the launch, Foday, one of the Prince’s Trust ambassadors spoke of how important funding for these projects is and thanked Lloyd’s for their contribution.

Lloyd’s Chairman, Lord Levene, said:

“Through volunteering schemes and charitable donations, the Square Mile has had a highly positive impact on local communities over the years. The Lloyd’s market alone has had over a thousand people volunteering on different schemes already this year.”

The new partnership will also offer new volunteering opportunities for people working in the Lloyd’s market.
