For more than 320 years, Lloyd's Underwriters have had the ability to undertake direct insurance and reinsurance business in UK.
The UK market is the largest source of revenue for Lloyd's in Europe and, after the USA, the second largest for Lloyd's globally. In 2010 the turnover generated by UK amounted to approximately £3.5bn premium income.
In UK Lloyd's is best known for all classes of commercial insurance and reinsurance including property, casualty, marine, energy and aviation but Lloyd's underwriters are also very active in certain personal lines, especially motor, short-term life and accident and health.
Lloyd's underwriters work closely with brokers and other insurance intermediaries to offer tailor-made solutions for specific risks. The Lloyd's market in London is also supported by over 550 Lloyd's accredited underwriting agencies (known as coverholders) and over sixty regional Lloyd's service companies.
